Prolozone Therapy

Prolozone is a homeopathic ozone and oxygen mixture used via an injection technique to heal painful arthritic joints as well as many other musculoskeletal conditions. This technique was developed and pioneered by Dr. Frank Shallenberger MD. Prolozone is a natural treatment that has the capacity to treat most joint pain and degenerative joint disease. The name Prolozone is derived from the word ozone and the Latin word “proli” which means to regenerate or rebuild. It uses and activates the body’s innate healing and repair mechanisms to regenerate and restore a chronically painful and slow to heal area.

Injecting ozone in and/or around the joint, tendon, ligament, or soft tissue stimulates the body to start regenerating, building antioxidant enzymes, and reducing inflammation. The injected ozone increases blood supply, supports the flow of healing nutrients to where they are needed most, and enhances fibroblastic joint repairing abilities. Prolozone treatment also has the capacity to regenerate the cartilage matrix; therefore in many situations it can offer permanent healing. This treatment has the ability to halt the pain/inflammation cycle.

What sorts of conditions can prolozone treat?

  • Chronic neck and back pain
  • Degenerated discs
  • Degenerative and arthritic joints such as knees, hips, shoulders
  • Rotator cuff injuries
  • Plantar fasciitis
  • Neuromas
  • Tennis elbow
  • Bursitis
  • Heel spurs
  • Sports injuries

The response to treatment varies from person to person and most people need 3 to 5 treatments. In more severe and disabling cases treatments may need to be continued for a longer period of time. Injections are generally given 2 to 4 weeks apart depending on the severity of pain. Very commonly pain is significantly reduced after just one treatment.
